We’re planning our Boys & Girls Club fundraising ride for this summer. It will be a one day century ride with a shorter 58 mile option, starting and finishing in Brattleboro.
The 3rd Annual Going the Distance Ride for the Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro will be held Saturday June 30th, with July 1st as a rain date. This year we are planning a fun and enjoyable 1 day, fully supported Century Ride that would start and end in Brattleboro. We have chosen the 100 mile route that goes from Brattleboro to the Amherst/Northampton area and back. Its a beautiful, scenic route along the Connecticut River, mainly on quiet, well paved roads. We would like to have 40 or more riders join this event. Eating enough and staying well hydrated are very important on a century ride. We plan to have rest stops with great food and drink at approximately 20, 40, 60 and 80 miles, with a wonderful catered lunch at the 60 mile stop. We are also planning a shorter, 58 mile, route that would utilize some of the route and rest stops of the Century Ride. We’ll have a sag van that will ride the route to support anyone who has problems. Since this is a fundraising ride to benefit the Boys & Girls Club, our goal is to have each rider raise $500 or more for the Club. Having done a very successful fundraising ride for the Club the past 2 years, we know this minimum can be easily met. We will support each rider’s fundraising effort with suggestions, sample emails and facts and figures about the Club. Donations can be made by check and each rider will also have a personal fundraising page on First Giving for on line donations. We’ll have T shirts and other goodies for all riders and some prizes for the top fundraisers. You can find information about the Boys & Girls Club at Click on “about us” to see 2 short videos about the Club. If you have questions about the Ride, please contact me at <nastor@sover.net>. Hope you’ll join us for the Going the Distance Ride this coming June 30th. Please let me know in a week or so if you’re interested and if you have any questions. Regards, and please call me if you have questions, Bob Nassau 387-5740 |
