Are you interested in teaching the Walk Smart/Bike Smart Vermont curriculum in your school or community? The Vermont Safe Routes to School Resource Center will be holding FREE half-day (9:00-12:30) trainings in Rutland on April 4th and in Burlington on April 6th.
This workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to teach bicycle safety skills for children ages 5-13 in schools and communities, it contains essential concepts and skills related to pedestrian and bicycle safety delivered through hands-on lessons. The participants will learn how to promote healthy habits, prevent injuries, and increase the number of children walking and biking safely. All training participants will receive a copy of the curriculum for use in their own classrooms. Additional On-Bike Training Offered after Burlington workshop: This hands-on workshop will walk participants through Local Motion's innovative bike skills training program for kids in grades 3 through 8. It includes a quick history of Local Motion's Bike Smart program, a review of the Bike Smart curriculum structure and goals, demos of selected modules from the program, and a Q&A on starting a bike skills program at your own school.
