Here’s a 10 mile bicycle loop from Burlington that’s recommended by VBPC former board president, Will Flender:
At the stop sign, proceed straight up the hill on the short section of bike path. At the top of the hill, use the signal to cross Route 7. On the opposite side, turn right and follow the sidewalk for less than a block and turn left onto Lindenwood Drive. Proceed to the end of this street and enter the small bike path.
At the first junction in the bike path bear right up the hill. Shortly after crossing a bridge, you will come to another junction, bear right again. Keep following the bike path as it continues up the hill (at one point, it coincides with a subdivision road for about 100 yards, look for it to turn off to the right). At the top of the hill, turn left and continue to the top of that hill where you will come to Overlook Park and a fantastic view of Lake Champlain. From there, cross Spear Street and continue on Howland Farm Road on the bike path.
At Dorset Street (next major cross road) keep following the bike path as is parallels Old Cross Road and bears to the left by the Golf Course. It will loop around and back to Dorset Street, where you take a right and proceed to the first set of traffic lights. Cross Dorset Street and follow the bike path along Swift Street to its intersection with Spear Street.
Turn right and follow Spear Street under the highway and up the hill. Turn left at the USDA Forest Service Research lab and pick up the bike path as it parallels Swift Street. At the T intersection next to the UVM athletic fields, turn left. Follow the path as it passes next to Gutterson Field House, then follow the central campus road until it intersects with Main Street. Use the traffic signal to cross Main Street and turn left on the bike path.
At its end, turn right onto University Row. Turn left on the first major bike path as it crosses the University Green to the top of College Street. Proceed down College Street (remember to stop at all stop signs and traffic signals) to the bottom of the hill and point of beginning.
